After watching my little cousin come in 6th place at the Little League World Series, I finaly got to do some shopping. For the first time in about a year :/ Managed to snag two new pairs of jeans, a pair of converse, and some slouchy cowboy Taylor Swift-esque boots. Snapped a pic of the boots, and will post pics of the jeans later. I’d post pics of the converse, but they’re the standard black and white low tops, Not very interesting.
$15 at Ross, and comfy to boot (No pun intended). Not a bad deal.
Anyone have advice on where to shop for back to school?
So I’ve been gone from the blogsphere for quite awhile. Not that I haven’t been reading blogs, but the amount of insanity my life has contained these last few months is incomprehenable. But now I’m back (I mean it this time XD)
So back to the invention that prompted me to blog: Afterparty shoes from Redfoot. I saw these on the Fashion Police Blog, and it was love at first sight.
They’re ballet flats that fold up to fit in your bag, so when the killer heels you were crazy to wear in the first place start taking their tole, you have a comfy pair of shoes to toss on. I gotta say, I would have sold my soul for these at the Washington DECA Confrence. (Which was amazing, but I’ll touch on it later. My big pet peeve came up at it, which justifies a rant). The pair shown are the Nicole style, but they have a handful of cute designs (even sandals for the summer) But anyways, if you want to order a pair (they’re a little expensive by my standards, but I’m an eternal thrifter), check them out at Love those Shoes.
Now onto my rant from the DECA fall leadership conference. First, I have to say, I had the time of my life. The energy was amazing. The thing that bugged me was the sheer number of girls wearing the faux two piece dress (high waisted pencil skirt with a blouse or button down underneath). The reason it bugged me? I have been doing this for a long time now- I just dont feel the need to sew my shirts to my skirt. It leaves too little creative room. First thing out of my friends mouth when we get to they Meydenbour (spelling is off, I know)-”That chicks dress is almost identical to your outfit”. Then we look around, then we started counting. We got to about thirtyfive before I said screw it and quit. Then we went to macys during some down time. I found a dress literally identical to my outfit (a vintage skirt and blouse paired together),except the dress at macys showed more cleavage. It really stole my thunder. When I got home, I looked online and saw pretty much every major designer had some version of it. On one level, it was cool to see that I was ahead of the trend (I was doing this before fall fashion week, and apparently I didn’t pay any atention becuase I dont remember seeing them.) unconsciously, but on the other hand it irked me to no end. Does anyone else have that problem, and does it annoy you when you start seeing everyone joinng in?
I’m really sorry for the rant…It’s been building up for about a month and a half (I really do need to blog more).
As much as I love sunglasses and sunshine, I’m getting pretty sick of eighty degree weather. It limits my outfit options too
Since today was a spirit day and so my outfit was incredibly boring, I’m posting an old outfit. Please excuse the fact that it looks like a thrift store threw up in my room xD (it really does, you don’t get the full experience from the picture though)

Wow, I’ve really been lagging in the ‘blog frequently’ goal. So I think a short summary of what’s been going on lately is in order. Me and the boyfriend saw Speed Racer and Indiana Jones =] They both were better than I expected (my hopes weren’t so high for speed racer, but it was really cute, I ended up going and seeing it again before my birthday get together. I knew Indiana Jones was going to be good, but Harrison Ford definitely beat my expectations of him for his age).
Wow, I really haven’t posted in forever, partially because I’ve been busy, and partially because despite the busyness, not too many notable things have happened. Me and the boyfriend went to prom, which wasn’t too bad, and then for a birthday/aniversary present he took me to one of my new favorite bands (jet lag gemini) concert last night in Portland. It was a pretty small show but definitely worth the trip across the river. Hopefully I’ll be able to make some thrifting trips this weekend with the birthday money i’m getting tomorrow, and i’ll have some cool finds to post about. In other news I finaly got the hideous braces off this morning. It hurt, but it’s so nice having them off.
Even though I’m home sick, and the chances of me leaving the house are slim to none, the discovery of some of my mom’s boots from the 90’s prompted me to put on some real clothes and take a picture. It really doesn’t do the outfit (or me) very much justice, but I don’t have the patience to take more. It’s not that great, but compared to laying around in sweats, i think it looks pretty snazzy.

Shirt: Stolen from mom’s goodwill bin
Jeans: Thrifted; Salvation Army
Boots (Even though they’re barely visible): Stolen from mom
13 views. This may not seem like much, but considering the average number of hits I get per day is around 2, 13 is pretty amazing. Stayed home sick today, but hopefully with my madre’s day off we’ll be able to go to salvation army. I really want to find more options for prom… and i haven’t been shopping in awhhile and am begining to get withdrawals. I’m also trying to finish The Beautiful Fall; a book on Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld in the 70’s, it’s been really good so far, and a good excuse to procrastinate on my book I’m supposed to be reading for english.
So I’m for sure going to prom next weekend (prior to this week, we weren’t sure if my boyfriend was going to be able to go), so now I have to decide what I’m going to wear. Since me and the bf have already decided that this year we’re not going all out- we’ll be going three years total, so for both of our senior prom’s we’ll get totally dressed up. I’m thinking about a black strappless wiggle dress but i’m not sure. I’m probably going to take a few trips to salvation army before I completely make up my mind, but I definitely want something vintage. What’s your favorite prom style?
Woo! It’s Earth Day
I decided to make some eco-friendly resolutions:
1. Start a compost pile or bin; aproximately 23% of waste going into landfills is foodscraps and yard clippings. Composting makes fertilizer out of it.
2. Un-plug things when i’m not using them. I’m really good about turning lights off when I leave the room, and turning appliances off, but when things are plugged in, even if off they use up electricity. So I’m going to work on actually unplugging things before i leave the house
3. Stop Plastic bag use- this one’s kind of a no brainer but I usually end up forgetting my re-usable ones when i go shopping. I’m putting a few in both of our vehicles so i’ll never have to worry about leaving them at home.
What are you doing for earth day?
Just Kidding!
I love country, and yesterday got around to watching the CMT award red carpet show (i started watching the show, but after about 5 minutes got too tired of Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus to continue).
LeAnn Rimes- Well, I must say, it takes a lot of guts to show that much leg at an award show. I’m not really digging the layers but she seems to like it.

Taylor Swift- I’ll admit, i’m slightly biased- Taylor Swift can pretty much do no wrong in my book. Her dress is a little on the boring side, but she still looks good.

Aimee Mayo- Well, until today I had no clue who this woman was, but i’m glad I googled her, turns out she’s one of the most successful country songwriters ever. However that doesn’t make up for the outfit. The dress itself isn’t that bad, but the coat pretty much kills it.

Last but certainly not least; Dierks Bentley- Ok, myabe this was just a shameless excuse to put up a picture of him, but I think he really pulled of the casual but not too sloppy red carpet look.
I’d comment on more, but the need to pass my math class calls, two weeks worth of work here I come =]
Woo Hoo! not. On a totally random note, I watched Fight Club for the first time today, it’s definitely a new favorite, Helena Bonham Carter is such a crazy but talented actress
